Mosquito Population to Increase After The Flood of 2011

Posted by Michelle Davis Degeyter

Once the flood waters overflow and then recede from the rivers and bayous in Acadiana, mosquito experts are expecting an explosion in population.

Anything that holds water has the capability to breed mosquitoes. Once flood waters finally start to move out, the mosquitoes will move in.  Because of the slow retreat of the flood waters, the amount of mosquitoes left behind will equal to about the aftermath of 6 hurricanes. Generally after a hurricane, the mosquitoes hang around for 3-4 weeks, but with The Flood of 2011, you can expect to see 3-4 months of mosquito infestations. And, of course, Mosquito Squad will be here to help!

Mosquitoes Kill More Than A War???

Posted by:  Michelle Davis Degeyter

What’s the most dangerous creature on earth? Without question the answer is: the mosquito. Mosquitoes and the diseases they spread have been responsible for killing more people than all the wars in history. Even today, mosquitoes transmitting malaria kill 2 million to 3 million people and infect another 200 million or more every year. Tens of millions more are killed and debilitated by a host of other mosquito-borne diseases, including filariasis, yellow fever, dengue and encephalitis.

Now, the question you must ask yourself is:  Do I want to become a statistic? NO!!!! Call Mosquito Squad today to protect yourself, your family and your family pets!

The World Race

Posted by: Michelle Davis

This post is dedicated to Scotty Barron, a missionary involved with The World Race.  For those of you who are not familiar with the race, it is a Christian mission trip that travels to 11 countries in 11 months. Participants live out of a backpack, survive on a limited budget, and find themselves in situations where faith is the only reality to choose from. In partnering with existing missionaries and ministries, World Racers develop relationships with the “least of these”, and through acts of service see communities and nations transformed all over the world.

Scotty is one of these Christians.  He is leaving his life here in the United States to spread the word of Our Lord and Savior to those in different nations with different cultures, backgrounds and languages.   His ministry will help hundreds of thousands of people come to know Christ and help spread His Word; whether he is building homes and churches,  working at a Vacation Bible School, visiting hospitals and praying with the sick or helping orphans.

Scotty is leaving for his trip October 2010 and still needs to raise the remainder of the money needed.  Please visit his blog, now and in the future, to donate to help his cause and to read the progress he has  made.

There are few people who are willing to give their time to help spread God’s Word.  The least we can do is help them with this; please donate and help Scotty succeed with his mission!
